Updates to DCA Detective

In October of 2007, the Walt Disney Company announced a major expansion to Disney’s California Adventure.  Disney President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger and Parks & Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo announced the expansion is an investment of $1.1 billion.  The project is a multi-year plan adding major attractions throughout the park.  This announcement was preceded by another significant milestone in June of 2006 when Bob Iger solidified the merger with Pixar for $7.4 billion. In doing so Imagineers now had many additional characters to develop attractions around.  Disney’s California Adventure Detective has quickly become an historical perspective of the opening years of DCA.  To keep current of the amazing transformation surf this site for free updates.

Paradise Pier will get an extreme make-over with the additions of Toy Story Midway Mania!, a Little Mermaid attraction, and a unique nighttime water spectacular with new seating and viewing for 9,000 guests.

A new area called Cars Land will add 12 acres to the Disney’s California Adventure Park.  Inspired by the 2006 Pixar film Cars guests will jump into Radiator Springs Racers for an “E-Ticket” experience.  After a briefing from Lightning McQueen and Doc, guests will race around hairpin turns and steep banks immersing themselves in the middle of the Cars world.

The entry plaza and gateway will all see an extreme makeover as the new entrance will be reminiscent of the California that Walt Disney experienced when he came to Southern California in the 1920’s.  The Los Angeles movie palace, Carthay Circle Theater, inspired the new icon for the park entrance.  This historic theater has significance as the premier of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full-length animated film debuted there in 1937.  The DCA Carthay Circle-like Theater is expected to house Walt Disney’s personal story of coming to California.  Locals who remember the Red Car Trolleys of the old Pacific Electric Railway may be happy to see the return of the public transportation system.  The new DCA Red Car Trolleys will travel guests up and down the new Main Street.
